Stainless steel, aluminum sheet, up-cycled bowling ball
This work was actually the “proof of concept” model for the Featherstone pieces. It was at first on a temporary base, but was then upgraded to permanent materials. The aluminum feather and the bowling ball appear to balance precariously on the solid base as the wind has its way with them. But they are securely attached through the stainless-steel shaft to the counterweights hidden in the base. It has withstood a hurricane at the DownEast National Juried Sculpture Exhibition, Greenville, NC, and is now at the National Outdoor Sculpture Competition & Exhibition, North Charleston, SC.
